When we first thought of the idea for Farm & Tavolo, it was so much more than making specialty foods accessible to everyone. We wanted people to discover different food cultures, regions and tastes as well as the amazing stories and people behind them. We wanted to build a community where people passionate about food could share their experiences tasting new specialty foods from around the country. In short, we wanted to provide an interactive, immersive and connected food experience.
We remember as children going to farmer’s markets around the world that had been active for centuries. Before brick & mortar markets, this is how the locals shopped for their fruits and vegetables, meats, fish, grains, spices, breads, coffee, teas and delicacies….all fresh and locally sourced. The smells, sights, sounds, conversations with the stand owners, and the fun we experienced at these markets are unforgettable. Through the stories and new tastes awaiting you on this site, we hope to replicate, in some way, the experience of a bustling, old-school market full of fresh, unique specialty foods.
This is your site to come taste; to learn about different specialty foods, cultures and regions; and to share your stories with a community full of passionate “foodies” like you. It’s a place to support local farmers and small businesses. A place to interact. A place to experience and savor specialty foods you won’t find in supermarkets or big box stores…and have fun doing it!
